This is a fascinating story from the perspective of a mentally disturbed person. It doesnt attempt to justify their actions, just explore things from their perspective. Great acting and even better script. I cant believe the critics slam this film for... Full review

The story and the acting are excellent. In the film, Edward Norton's performance is not as notorious as in other films but is deeper. I think that is brilliant. This film is about solitude and holding to someone as a way... Full review

In the case of Down in the Valley , I was lucky; I ended up with an incredible cast that pleased both the financiers and me.

His work in "The Illusionist," made at about the same time as "Down in the Valley," is another good example.
There is always something a little unsettling about Norton's movie characters, something hidden behind the disarming smile and the modest, boy-next-door charm.
