The ties that bind...
The ties that bind...
I was finally able to get my hands on what was being hyped as possibly the best film of 2006. When there is so much hype I immediately become a skeptic - on the lookout for any flaws. So I watched this film in no complacent frame of mind - no way was I simply gonna like it because others did. Three hours later, here I am compelled to write a few lines about this film.
The story is simplistic - Zeenat (Gul Panag) and Aamir (Rushad Rana) marry in remote Himachal Pradesh against his...more

After 'Iqbal', Nagesh Kukunoor scores yet again with a strong and sensitive subject. The film has its share of emotions without unnecessary melodrama, and also a strong dose of humour that doesn't seem forced at all. One is not going overboard by giving it the highest rating but the film seems flawless with an unbelievable performance by Ayesha Takia. The story. The quality of life lived is far more important than the number of years one lives. This simple one line (First thing that catches attention as the credits start rolling) captures the whole essence of Nagesh Kukunoor's latest offering 'Dor'. And it can be said that, it's a fitting tribute to slice-of-life storyteller Hrishikesh Mukherjee who passed away recently. The manner in which this story of love, redemption and freedom from fear unfolds, it leaves you pleasantly surprised. 'Dor' is a fantastic film that floors you with its unique storytelling methodology, fabulous performances (Commendable since the lead actors are very young),...more
