Master Raju and Anil about eight years old use to sing & dance on streets for their livelihood. Master Raju receives a letter of his mothers sickness & goes to his village.

Anil has a widowed mother, who accompanies him now for street singing. One day while they are singing before Mr.Oberoi bungalow, his daughter calls them inside the bungalow and both sing and dance together. Meantime oberoi comes home and finding the onlookers climbing the walls of his bungalow gets angry. He abuses Anil & he gets a good bashing from Mr. Oberoi's servants. Police comes, Oberoi puts a false charge of a guitar theft on Anil & his mother. When they return form the lock up, the whole Basti calls them, "Thieves! Thieves!" Seeing this Anil's mother takes him away from the city of Bombay to Goa. Anil grows up, & earns his livelihood by dancing on marriage parties but he has not forgotten the insult done to his mother by Mr.Oberoi. Oberoi's son Sam is a Superstar dancer. He comes across Anil. On the very first show Rita and her friends try to hoot Anil's singing and dancing but Anil is successful. Anil scolds Rita for trying to make his show unsuccessful. Anil, who is now Jimmy becomes a big star. The life goes on with success kissing his feet as one day Jimmy comes across Oberoi in a party. Rita who is none else but daughter of Oberoi and childhood play mate of Jimmy, falls in love with Jimmy. One day Oberoi comes to know about their affair, he prepares a plan to kill him by infusing 5000 volts electric currents in the guitar he is going to play. All is set for his death that his mother comes to know about the plan. She saves her son by giving her own life. It is a shock and jolts Jimmy suffers a guitar phobia. He starts loosing his popularity, Rita manages to bring him back on the stage but he is unable to sing and dance. Crowd gets furious, they hit him with stone and at that point a voice in the form of song is heard.

Admittedly this is only delightful because I can look back and see their movie histories behind me - Don and Disco Dancer together!
One memory loss might be standard filmi or soap-opera goodness; two seems beyond excessive, especially because they're seen in quick succession at the beginning of the movie, leaving most of the film to be a flashback, and because the major plot elements could have worked without either.
