Arun (Ajay Devagan) and Sapna (Raveena Tandon) are madly in love. Their love has reached legendary proportions. Aruns passion for Sapna borders on the mad. Their tale of love travels and reaches the ears of Mama Thakur (Paresh Rawal). This wicked mamma of Sapna-guards her wealth like a snake. He has plans to usurp her wealth the day she marries. So he has fixed fleshly looking boy called Shankar Bihar (Gulshan Grover). Shankar is hand in glove with Mamma in his schemes. The news of Arun threatens to overturn Mamma Thakur's apple-cart. His evil mind gets to work. He gets Arun convicted for Jyoti's murder (Navneet Nishan). Jyoti is a colleague of Arun in college and quite crazy about him. Arun is charged with having a physical relation with Jyoti to hide the relation from Sapna he murdered her. This is what the prosecution's story is Arun pleads no guilty, but Mamma Thakur tortures Arun to a point that he agrees to all the charges in court. The court pronounces a death sentence. Sapna believing that Arun was two-timing her. Arun's mind has gone through a lot of physical and mental torture. He looses his sanity. He is sent to the mental hospital The court verdict temporarily suspended. Thus the two lovers who dreamt of living happily ever after are separated. Arun's mother (Reema Lagoo). She calls divine justice. Amidst all the corruption and evil emerges Inspector Vikram (Sunil Shetty) who is honest cop. He is given the charge of Arun Saxena's case. He gets to know Arun in the mental hospital and through his mother. He comes to believe in Arun's innocence. Vikram fell in love with a girl at first sight. Only never meet her again. He now begins a crusade against Mamma Thakur on Arun's behalf.
