Dickie Roberts actually looked like it would be somewhat funny. I knew it wasn't going to be great, but I thought it might be alright. But i was very disappointed. The movie was so boring. There were a very few funny... Full review

This movie had a lot of potential. The storyline itself was not a bad idea. But it needed two things: better writers, and a replacement for David Spade. He just wasn't funny. The rest of the cast, especially the child actors,... Full review

It's a shame when a good concept is pissed away. Now I wouldn't say David Spade "pissed away" a good concept but he has certainly watered it down. "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" has the makings of a killer black comedy... Full review

Eventually, they run out of steam and the comedy is lost.
While the personalities of the cast produce some comical episodes, sometimes the excitement brews from sticky situations that elevate their odd personalities.

Dickie is an impudent wisecracker who's never been socialized.

Not to be deterred, however, Dickie hires a family (Craig Bierko, Mary McCormack, Scott Terra and Jenna Boyd) willing to treat him like a child for a few months...
Fortunately this isn't true of Dickie and the scenes where he bonds with both the children and McCormack are genuinely sweet, even if they do repeat the same "No-one ever said that to me before" bit about three times.
