This is one of my favorite gangster movies. Although it doesn't touch The Godfather (and nothing ever will) it still kicked @$$. The story was excellent and always on track. The acting also wonderful. If you liked The Godfather or Goodfellas... Full review

The two events aren't connected, although if they were, it might have been a more original movie. Further explanation is unnecessary as the film follows all of the genre's clichs, following the tragic heroes right up to the final, incoherent bloodbath. ... Full Review

The problem with making a movie about street gangs from the fifties is that one of two things is going to happen: either youre going to keep the film fairly historically accurate and bore the hell out of your audience members (Kalvert neatly sidesteps this potential dilemma by throwing history right out the window); or youre going to turn the gangs of the fifties into something strikingly similar to the gangs of the nineties, complete with every other word being fuck, and confuse the hell out... ...
