I mean it when I say that "Deliverance" is one of the most memorable movies to emerge from that golden decade of the 1970s. What makes "Deliverance" one of the most memorable movies to come out of the 1970s is not its raw acts of brutality and violence, but that it pulls you in the way few other movies do. ... Full Review

Since my late father, James Dickey, wrote the novel "Deliverance" and the screenplay for the movie, I like to think there's more to the story than that, and indeed there is. Probably you know as much as you want to know about the most infamous scene in the 1972 movie "Deliverance," that homosexual rape by the riverside in the backwoods of Georgia-"Squeal piggy! ... For these reasons and many more, Deliverance is much more than the sum of its parts: it's a taut, tense thriller that remains one of the decade's most visceral adventures. Originally released on DVD in 1999, Deliverance was paired with a decent technical presentation and a few modest bonus features. ... Full Review
