What follows is a brilliant tale of a young and idealistic man attempting to follow his dreams....It is not just an excellent story, it is filled with complex....finally there is a very interesting feature commentary with director Adam Brooks and actor Ryan Reynolds.....carefully constructed characters, acted to perfection by a cast who invest their emotions unflinchingly and their skills unreservedly to make it seem very real..... ... It may not be a dense, delectable treat, but while it's around, Definitely, Maybe is pleasant enough.
Happily, Definitely, Maybe (new to DVD from Universal) avoids some of these pitfalls, instead hoping that a post-modern nostalgia guides the audience's affections.

It's a self-aware romantic comedy, one that is actually funny and moving.
this film is far better than all of them.
But Definitely, Maybe is a refreshing entry with witty writing and performances.
including my favorite wedding proposal scene ever.

That's right, Film.com is holding a Definitely, Maybe challenge where you could win a free DVD simply for mailing me a Ryan Reynolds related haiku with DEFINITELY HAIKU in the subject line (and where you'd like your DVD sent).
The good news is that I quite liked the film when I saw it in the theater and the DVD contains deleted scenes and a commentary with Ryan Reynolds .

While not a classic of the genre, Definitely, Maybe is worth a look by even those who usually steer clear of romantic comedies.
Definitely, Maybe relies on good acting, funny lines, a very cute kid, and enough real emotion to carry it off.

Reynolds makes a terrific lead as Will, delivering a performance that is both sensitive and charming, especially in his interactions with the super-talented Breslin.
The script is excellent and keeps you guessing right up until the end, while still managing to pull off a couple of surprises.

we have grown accustomed to here in this flick and we are worse off for it.....I believe the film works best when it's just Reynolds and Breslin working together....This movie is not a bad movie..... ... Full Review

Of course, the movie ends on an up beat and there are moments to enjoy along the way, but "Definitely, Maybe" is probably not going to stick in the minds of most viewers.
Of the three women, the adorable Isla Fisher gets the best cute moments with Will, challenging him to a smoking competition and helping practice a proposal.

It's rare to find a smart romantic comedy that's also a good mystery, but "Definitely, Maybe" weaves a good tale and woos us simultaneously.
Definitely, Maybe" is a smart and sometimes sad romantic comedy that prefers whipsmart dialogue and unlikely surprises to canned music and horrific cuteness, with the likable Reynolds making the most of his time on screen, with a quartet of dynamic and funny women (and one young girl) playing things perfectly.
