Pumped up on pulp, Tarantino goes to a lot of trouble to supposedly pay homage to the exploitation movies of old, which used left over film stock and carefree splicing to deliver cheap movie thrills to frustrated teenagers on Saturday afternoons. Even in expanded, stand-alone form, it still retains the self-pleasing, throwaway air of the shorter cut that made up the second half of 2007's greatest lost movie (at least to UK viewers), Grindhouse.
