I thought it was a made-for-TV-movie.

A throw-a-away script & actors sleep walking through it, too. Silly, silly, silly for children, maybe?! Human being with minds, please stay away. Stupid, stupid & more stupid. Insipid, insipid, insipid. No tension, no surprises, no logic, no wonder you haven't... Full review

Tom (Greg Kinnear) is a petty conman who poses as a burn victim (among other things) to elicit money from innocent bystanders. He has quite a reputation around town so law enforcement goes to some length to catch him in the... Full review
"Dear God" is a movie the whole family can enjoy. Despite a predictable plot and an ending anyone can spot a mile away, the overall ensemble acting and dialogue are surprisingly fresh and sometimes poignant. The conversion of Tom from a... Full review

her performance alone may make seeing this movie worthwhile.....Director Gary Marshall ("Pretty Woman") tried to make a wacky feel-good comedy here....Laurie Metcalf (from TV's "Rosanne") has a great time as a recovering workaholic lawyer who is recuperating in the DLO..... ... Full Review

Dear God'' tries to have too much fun with its heart-on-its-sleeve intentions, and it keeps working against itself, not quite sure whether to go for goofiness or a corny feel- good tone. The smart, winning Kinnear is the strongest card shown by ``Dear God,'' which opens today at Bay Area theaters. ... Full Review

Those involved in this project must have known how bad Dear God is. A holiday extravaganza, a feel-good movie of the year, Dear God is also the biggest load of crap to hit the screens in a long, long time. ... Full Review

Even the faces will be familiar, since almost everyone in this movie is better known for small-screen roles. Hopefully, he's in a very small minority, because the last thing we need is a flood of Dear God copycats. ... Full Review
