Jan 27, 2008
Scars_Remain - imdb.com
I watched Darkman directly after 1999's The Boondock Saints so clearly, the latter was the better film. However, I had a lot of fun watching this one. It's a Superhero/Horror hybrid film with a lot going for it in the... Full review

If Spawn wasn't an awful movie it would probably look something fairly similiar to Darkman. Sure, this is one of those movies that seems that the director just went down a long list of action films and comics (Robocop, Hulk) and... Full review

OK action/superhero/suspene/horror movie that was equally interesting and boring. Good enough story, but I think some grisly gore might have turned this film into a horror cult classic.... Full review

Neeson's performance in Taken is by far the film's strongest element, precisely....Raimi has a lot of fun with Neeson as emo vigilante-in one scene, Peyton's frustration grows so extreme....smaller sequences of Peyton disguising himself to fuck with his enemies are more satisfying than the big rooftop-and-helicopter chase in the finale..... ... Of course, the film also has woefully misguided acting choices, poorly-timed action sequences, ridiculous dialogue and other bad movie staples. But the fact that such goofy material is dealt with so seriously creates a unique kind of tension, and it's this tension that makes "Darkman," and so many other bad movies, as enjoyable as it is. ... Vintage Universal monster movies and a love of comic books were the inspiration for Raimi's "Darkman. Combining many similar elements from both Batman and The Shadow with a mix of the pathos of the old Universal monsters, Raimi's "Darkman" became a successful franchise in is own right, earning nearly fifty million dollars and spawning sequels, comic books and action figures. ...
