Unleashed" has incredible moments of operatic, absurdist violence....To maintain Danny's character arc, director Louis Leterrier ("The Transporter") isn't afraid to show his rough side....Choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping, the master behind "The Matrix" trilogy, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," and the "Kill Bill" films, "Unleashed" is a marvel of aggression.....Trouble is, those pictures were trainwrecks, overindulging in the worst American action film tendencies.....Wisely, Li reteams with Besson for "Unlea ... At the time it seemed a silly conceit for an action film, something just outrageous enough to serve as a juicy hook....It would be easy to open the movie with footage of Tyson's stunning loss to Buster Douglas -.... ... Full Review

I would never call this a great film, but because of Morgan Freeman and Jet Li, "Unleashed" is passable entertainment.
Newcomer Kerry Condon was effective as Dannys romantic interest and educator.
Morgan Freeman was excellent as always.

For me, the film was briskly entertaining, with an appealing performance by Jet Li, and brutally choreographed fight scenes.
Morgan Freeman provided able support in the stereotypical role of "the father figure" (here a blind piano tuner), and Kerry Condon was a delightful surprise as the tuner's stepdaughter.

But even this cannot diminish the joy I experienced whist watching an action movie that not only excited but also moved me.
The piano is paradoxical, and it comes as no surprise that it features prominently in the film.
The action itself is perfect.

Yet this Luc Besson production originally known as Danny The Dog deserves a pat for its almost wilful perversity.
Yes, director Louis Leterrier (real name, honest) opens with a fast-and-furious intro that establishes Lis near-comatose Danny as a merciless enforcer the moment hes off his psychological leash.

A lot of the film's effective emotional projection must be attributed to Pierre Morel's scintillating cinematography.....The pedestrian and the profound are strangely wedded in this soul-searching drama of the damned and the redeemed.....Jet Li's hesitant petrified and yet sure-footed efforts to grapple with his troubled character's inner and outer worlds is a pleasure to watch..... ...
