the rest of the film is so satisfying and intriguing, it is almost a shame....Whether CQ 's ending is satisfying or not is up to the individual viewer....CQ is also well served by its moody synth-pop soundtrack, another element it shares with The Virgin Suicides .....although her strongest scene is a curious little moment of intimacy with Davies when she is in her street clothes.... ... His obsession with the film bores and annoys her -....Beguiling model turned actress Angela Lindvall is perfect as Valentine/Dragonfly....Compound this with his fresh obsession with lead actress, Angela Lindvall, and his tendency to combine reality with fantasy....his work with the pretentious director is short lived when Felix gets in a car accident....Dragonfly," is directed by the haphazard and histrionic Andrzej (Gerard Depardieu)..... ... His French girlfriend, Marlene (Elodie Bouchez), does not understand why his passion for film outmeasures his passion for her.....But love alone does not make a film watchable, no matter how much of it there is.....Coppola clearly loves the sort of movie that "Codename....Somehow, Paul himself winds up with the task of completing this film in a way that will be artistically satisfying as well as commercially viable..... ... Paul's "personal" document, the film he believes is "honest....Roman Coppola's picture is no less annoying, more awkward and glib....recalling his grander, younger days, perhaps, he fights for his right to make a visionary film, a "circle," without an ending.....Dragonfly is a gorgeous secret agent, played by the gorgeous actress Valentine (played by the gorgeous model-turned-actress Angela Lindvall)..... ... Lead in 'CQ' too boring to rouse interest
Enzo hires the compulsively partying Felix (Jason Schwartzman) as first replacement director and then replaces him even more inexplicably with the picture's colorless young American editor, Paul (Jeremy Davies).

CQ is so enamored of its own stylish, stylized world that it occasionally seems to forget that someone besides Coppola is watching.
A mix of talking-head interviews and clips from the movie, her CQ film isn't nearly as important or compelling as Hearts of Darkness , but it's still interesting.

As directorial debuts from Coppola kids go, CQ is nowhere near as strong as Sofia Coppola's brilliant The Virgin Suicides, in which she demonstrated a real gift for getting inside her characters' minds.
In her screen debut, supermodel Lindvall does a fine job imitating Jane Fonda, even if her character lacks the wide-eyed innocence that made the original Queen of the Galaxy so endearing.

The film is competently made, some of the acting is good and it has a unique look and feel, but because the story and lead character are so uninvolving
It's hard to pull off a successful film about the making of one ( Ed Wood being the rare exception), and while Roman Coppola makes a nice attempt with his directorial debut CQ , it doesn't really work.

Writer-director Roman Coppola is trying to capture a time he's too young to remember, when the French New Wave reinvigorated film art.
Paul is working as an editor on Dragonfly , a Barbarella-style sci-fi epic starring Valentine, played by American model Angela Lindvall.
