Half Assed and Predicatable

Like most movies i nthis genre, it was predictable and mediocre, with sophmoric writing and dialog, lame jokes and bad music. It seemed like it was an excuse for the actress, writer to sing songs and hang out with drag queens.... Full review

The only reason I sat through this movie, is so I could tell people how much it sucked. The plot was cliche after cliche. Overacting made me want to vomit. Honestly, I don't understand the people who voted this movie anything... Full review

"Connie and Carla", Nia Vardalos's second motion picture ("My Big Fat Greek Weeding" [2002] was her first), was a movie that critic's were more than "not nice" about. After viewing it, however, one must admit, a film where "women dressed up... Full review

This movie was absolutely underapprecicated during it's time in theaters. In the style of Victor/Victoria, we have two fabulously talented women pretending to be men making their living as drag queens in an attempt to escape a mobster. Great one liners,... Full review

When that mobster starts singing along I about fall off my chair! This movie is along the lines of dumb and dumber so don't watch it if you are in any measure of a serious mood. Lighthearted comedy with no plot,... Full review

CONNIE AND CARLA IS A DRAG!

CONNIE AND CARLA falls flat and is a mediocre mess at best. The script meanders all over the place ripping-off all the other films in this genre – poorly I might add. The story centers on two bad cabaret singers running... Full review

Families who enjoy this movie will also enjoy some of the other classic cross-dressing comedies including Tootsie....there are some double entrendre sexual references and crude jokes involving tampons and a "sit on my face" insult.....but there are some good lines given maximum punch by a strong cast.....What made her first film a hit was its fresh and unassuming presentation of a universal theme --....Nia Vardalos captivated audiences with the unstoppably successful My Big Fat Greek Wedding and her next fi ... Connie and Carla" isn't terribly witty or clever, partly because the storylines aren't too imaginative and there are only token attempts to explore the complicated world of drag. Her exuberance and talent really shine through and she steals the spotlight from Nia Vardalos in many of the musical numbers, which are good fun. ... Full Review

Connie and Carla opens on a stage, as a curtain draws back to reveal the title characters as a high-school song-and-dance act, confidently belting out their version of Oklahoma. And everything that takes place in between these two scenes is equally theatrical and playful. ... Full Review
