Closer" staring Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Clive Owen, and Julia Roberts is a film about 4 sexually active, lying, but sometimes too truthful people tangled in a 4 way mess.

Closer" is a movie with fair acting,.....That after spending 104 minutes watching it, you are shown deplorable images, both visual and mental, with out a meaningful reason.....Yet, I believe that a good film most times, is evaluated by the sum of its parts.....Not only is this drama by Mike Nichols ("The Graduate") a great example of Closer:....Yet this drama is spectacularly sordid..... ... Like the best of his films, Closer is an incisive character study with nuanced performances, sharp dialogue, and insightful dramatic turns.
The film presents love as a messy, usually unsatisfying process whereby needy people exploit each other's insecurities, and where the meet-cute doesn't necessarily lead to a happily-ever-after.

Send to a friend I know what I'm supposed to think: "Closer" is a sophisticated film, with clever dialogue and the kind of fractured narration that's become vogue, as of late.
When you cast Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen in this tale of two adulterous couples, you'd think it would be a huge success.

The excellent plot twists and turns and expertly explores themes of intimacy, infidelity and insecurity.
Finally, the opening scene in which Dan and Alice see each other from opposite sides of the street, as they walk through rush hour London traffic (while The Blower's Daughter from Damien Rice plays in the background) is one of my favorite movie scenes of all times.
