Do not be fooled by the coy charm of the promotional poster. The image of the girl shyly leaning over to kiss the cheek of a bare-backed boy on golden sands drenched in sunlight represents an ideal that many residents of... Full review

City of God is the most visually inventive, vibrant, and enthusiastic crime film since Pulp Fiction .....Despite such raves, Academy voters snubbed the film for a best foreign film Oscar in 2002, most likely due to its limited accessibility.....it's a classic action movie.....Meirelles' enthusiasm for his movie doesn't overshadow the filmmaker's grounded insistence....Meirelles is more optimistic about the chances of Daniel Rezende, up for best film editing..... ...
