At the time, there were reports of the filmmaker and the actor not gelling well on the sets of the movie.
The film bombed and they never worked together again.
Priyadarshan however denied any such reports saying, "I am not aware of this.

The wait seems endless when what you presumed to be a comedy takes the face of dreary melodrama.....Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav's tremendous chemistry makes up for Shahid and Kareena's lack of the same.....This odd and hasty development is so bogus, you find yourself frantically anticipating Paresh Rawal's next scene.....Alas, they are let down by the writer for the film soon runs out of gags, slapstick and steam..... ... Technically the film is good.....The second half concentrates more on the dramatic and emotional based moments and thats where the movie falters in a huge way at times.....Priyadarshan is a accomplished film maker who knows how to make an entertaining film that keeps the viewer completely entertained....Kareena Kapoor is a disappointment in her part....The fresh cast consisted of Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor (fresh from the success of 36, CHINATOWN), the dazzling Neha Dhupia as wella s Priyadarshan regu ... His interaction with Om Puri at the start of the film is remarkable, especially the pahelwaan fight.
Chup Chup Ke is amongst Priyan's finest efforts.
On the whole, Chup Chup Ke is yet another enjoyable joyride from Priyadarshan.
Om Puri is superb.
