At his daughter's wedding, time-management specialist Frank Allen corners the reluctant groom and tells him a long story: about the night his wife chose him, and then, about eight years later, when a missed ferry, a corporate groupie, a panicked expectant mother, and a medical test brought Frank's marriage to a crisis. In the midst of the crisis were Frank, his wife Susan, their daughter Emily, and Frank's best friend, the feckless Buddy. Things come to a head at a lake when Frank, armed with a shotgun, decides to cross something permanently from one of his time-management lists. Is there ever room for whim and chaos?
PG Chaos Theory Chaos theory, explains Frank Allen (Ryan Reynolds), the hero of , maintains that underlying patterns exist beneath the supposedly random movements of natural systems.
Near the beginning of the movie, we see him, aged, at his daughter's wedding, wearing glasses, short hair and a nerdy beard the insouciant young Ryan Reynolds is effectively transformed into a faintly sinister middle-aged bore.

American movies love that process, and the audience finds both phases of these characters' deconstruction innately satisfying to watch.
The filling consists of Frank ( Ryan Reynolds ), a compulsively punctual motivational speaker and author of the best-selling The Five-Minute Efficiency Trainer, which involves a heavy reliance on index cards.

Some turns in direction are subtle and charmingly rendered and, most notably, paired very, very well with performances to occasionally memorable effect.
Yet those moments are couched in a larger story that's quite generously traditional and director Marcos Siego, whose history in television is somewhat visible here, creates many opportunities to celebrate the traditionalism without smothering the sentiment with saccharine.

The 'Chaos Theory' credits just started rolling here, actually having some pre-viewing excitement, the writers left me out in the cold. A vast array of smug movie 'experts' utilized the title to point out the movie's big flaw, namely a... Read more at imdb.com

Chaos Theory is an extremely well done film. It is a serious, emotional and at times humorous look at life and love that is incredibly honest and centers around equally honest and real characters. With the feel of a good... Read more at imdb.com
