WOW. A great movie. I really enjoyed it. Good entertainer, well directed. It's based on a hockey game and how the coach inspires the team to compete well in the World Cup for Women. It was the next best movie in the sports genre after Lagaan. Go watch it!

Chak de India: Intelligent Effort! It is a commercial film…albeit an intelligent one. Chak de! It was after quite some time that I went kind of crazy with the crowd (mainly girls) - shouting, bellowing and whistling throughout the film and no…the shouting was not during the jeered arguments (oh yes! Watching such a “nationalistic†film out of India (I live currently in London) it made me realise how attached the diaspora is to even a most overwrought analogy of the sense of being an Indian. Chak De India: Women Power rocks!! It was the return of the King Khan after a gap and that too without a heroine (in the traditional sense of the term). One always expects packed houses on the first day of release of an SRK flick, presented by a banner like Yashraj, with whom SRK has already delivered a long list of hits like Darr, DDLJ, Dil To Pagal Hain, Mohabbatein and Veer Zaraa. But may be because of the low key publicity and absence of a star Female lead, it was feared that Chak De might lose out on viewers....more

Aha..Finally Bollywood has a full fledged sports movie.This one is a worth watch for every movie lover.This is a very well made movie with nothing unnecessary being added.
I being a SRK fan love to see him in any role but these are the kinds of role which brings the real actor out of him, Swades being another example.

This film is a definite deviation from the regular mush and candyfloss films, which are churned out from YRF. They had produced Kabul Express earlier, which was also not their regular sort of film, but YRF had come into the picture after most of the film was complete. In the hockey World Cup finals against Pakistan, Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) misses a penalty shot, which results in his team losing the match. Disgraced he returns to his hometown. Seven years later he returns with an ambition of doing the almost impossible task of getting the neglected Indian Women's hockey...more

Can I catch hold of the first person who said that CHAK DE INDIA is an experimental film? Or it is not the kind that entertains? Or worse, it is 'just' a sports/issue based film laced with patriotism? And by the way, 'just' is the key word here! It is heartening to see Yashraj Films move away from their stereotypical mushy romances and sentimental family dramas. Sports, in itself, is not a popular genre in Bollywood.
