To sum up, Capturing the Friedmans is a moving, frequently disturbing film that exerts an almost hypnotic fascination and will leave you with plenty to think about.
The clever thing about the film is that, just as you think you know whose viewpoints you 'trust', Jarecki cleverly -and very subtly- pulls the rug out from under you - this is especially true of the lawyer and of one of the key witnesses.
