Breakfast of Champions is so horrible, that they could use it to break prisoners in POW camps. There is not one redeemable thing in this whole film. The acting sucks, the visuals are crappy, the story is aimless, everything about this... Full review

Yes,"Breakfast Of Champions" is a brilliant original literary work by Kurt Vonnegut. No,the film adaptation does not do justice to the multi-layered masterpiece.Sure, maybe Robert Altman,Terry Gilliam,or David Lynch might have made better versions of it than Alan Rudolph. But a 4.1?When derivative pieces... It takes a particular taste and outlook on film, literature, and life to appreciate Breakfast of Champions. The story is not as pointless as some believe. Think of all the commercials, all the voices that constantly tell us what we want,... Full review

Films never do great books justice, but seeing some very good actors play in a Vonnegut movie is worth it in itself. The story doesn't build like the book, and some of the plot is out of place, but worth seeing.... Full review

I'm afraid that in the era of pop-no-where-ism, where the reality show sets the rules; films like this one will get worse and worse reviews as time moves on. I didn't read Vonnegut until my early thirties and I grew... Full review

This movie was extremely weird, but if you're in the right mood to just let the movie take you, you will adore it. Kilgore Trout (Albert Finney) is by far the best character in the movie, simply because Finney is a... Full review

I am guessing that if you showed this movie to ten random strangers, eight of them would not like it. However, I would be one of the two that did. I love strangeness. I love to see people meltdown. I... Full review

Bad movie, but Nolte gets new respect for rising above it. Relying on lame visual gimmicks that fall flat, and insisting on pushing almost every scene as frantic comedy weighted by social commentary, he forces his actors to become hams rather than believable characters. ... Full Review

who, at least, deeply understands Willis' problem.....The rest, like me, were nearly wetting their pants with laughter at a pretty brutal satire of Republican America.....I think Bruce Willis has a problem.....One is Kilgore Trout (Albert Finney), a failed writer of supposed science fiction novels that nobody understands (a funhouse version of the author, himself)..... ... Rudolph keeps things going briskly, but his entire approach to "Breakfast of Champions" is highly problematic. As it is, "Breakfast of Champions" is too in-your-face, too heavily satirical in its look, and its ideas not as fresh as they should be. ... Full Review

Sadly, the comedian's tacit assertion - that reading is in itself a good thing to do - rather falls down when applied to film stars. Meanwhile, curmudgeonly old science-fiction writer Kilgore Trout (Albert Finney) finds himself invited to Midland City's arts festival despite the fact that his stories only ever appear in "beaver" magazines. ...
