Viggo Mortensen aside, there is no reason to subject yourself to the mindless, bloody, and boring Boiling Point . That the easygoing check forger is really a fucking psycho gives Hopper (and the audience) the only real surprise in Boiling Point , and it's to Mortensen's credit that he makes that little bit noticeable in the morass of bullets and nonsensical scenes. ... Boiling Point is an average police thriller (although, surprisingly, there are no high-speed car chases) with little to offer that's new or original. It appears that an attempt was made to correct matters in the editing room (even a casual look reveals that the movie has undergone heavy cutting-and-pasting), but there's only so much that can be accomplished in post-production. ...
