This movie constitutes little more than Simon Beaufoy attempting to continue his run of luck after 'The Full Monty' by presenting another 'down-to-earth' ungainly comedy/drama set somewhere in the impossibly bleak north of England, evidently a place where nobody has... Full review

Despite a lot of Big Hair, this is not a big movie. Nonetheless, it is an enjoyable romp, with some affecting performances. There is nothing revelatory or even unpredictable about the story, but it works nicely and certainly entertains. The... Full review

I thought this film was wonderful, a slushy feel good film with classic Shakespearian sub-plots. What is most poignant is that it depicts a town that is disappearing in England. Films like this are social documents. If people don't act... Full review

So it's a comedy about hairdressing. In truth, the hairdressing provides little more than colour commentary (pun intended), because it's the relationships that take first stage, and they take it really well. Alan Rickman is good, sincere and has depth,... Full review

WARNING-MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT THIS POST: Blow Dry is a movie about a hair dressing competition. Well-that's what it's SUPPOSED to be about. The movie's a bit deceptive, in it's advertising and that's the main problem I had with it. While I... Full review

That's the major "flaw" in the film, it's British and, let's face it, British movies have this flat feeling to them. This movie is hilarious, mostly because of Rickman's dry delivery (it's Metatron, cutting hair). They picked an almost perfect cast... Full review

Blow Dry" is rated R for scattered strong profanity, fleeting female nudity, crude sight gags and discussions (sexually explicit in nature) and brief violence (gunfire and implied).
In fact, it's hard to see why actors and filmmakers this talented would have anything to do with something as slight and forgettable as this only sporadically entertaining comedy-drama - though the looks of embarrassment on their faces suggest that even they know it isn't exactly a career highlight.

Now and then, Blow Dry threatens to turn wacky.
The latest is Blow Dry , about a British contest in the small town of Keighley that could have been a high-camp riot especially with Alan Rickman, an actor fully capable of hissy hauteur, as the main mane clipper.
