This movie could have been much better if it was served with a better script.
At times the movie clearly tries to tackle such meaty themes like the absurdity of local TV news, the pain of being an outsider in a class system, and the deep pervading fear of realisation of failed dreams.

Trapped in a life he doesn't want, gaining weight by drowning his sorrows in chocolate, and dealing with his adulterous wife (the always welcome Elizabeth Banks), Bill is working his last nerve.
The velocity at which "Meet Bill" stumbles is alarming, made even worse by the flat-out stupidity of the film's second half.

Logan Lerman is terrific in the role, a less cynical Holden Caulfield for the 21st century.....the movie's more tellingly undone by the deadly lack of chemistry between Eckhart and Banks.....But the rest of the movie is flat, predicated on the far-fetched relationship between Bill and his wife..... ... Best of all is Garrett Dillahunt, who made several first season appearances as the man who shot Wild Bill, but returns as an entirely different character, a geologist with some peculiar sexual tendencies and a violent streak.
The easy integration of character actors like Pruitt Taylor Vince and Stephen Tobolowsky isn't at all surprising, there's pleasure in seeing actors like Sarah Paulson do career-best work as well.

Eckhart doesnt think of his character, a conscientious lawman turned murderous vigilante, as a villain, just someone who does what he does.
