But for a comedy starring the voice of Seinfeld, one co-written by Seinfeld, you'd think there'd be more funny stuff going on. There were a few good ones and a lot of horrible ones, and almost all of them were just like this movie, full of talking animals and actually about next to nothing. ... Full Review

In most of these animated features, there's humour aimed at older viewers, but in Bee Movie it hits an extreme. I strongly recommend against this movie for any child under 8 or even 10, unless your child is unusually precocious. ... Full Review

Now with "Bee Movie," you might think that I blame all the film's problems solely on Seinfeld. All devoted to how much of an amazing achievement in cinema this movie is. I don't care for Seinfeld's work ... Full Review

June 2, 2008 - It's tempting to want to like Bee Movie better than other animated films purely by virtue of Jerry Seinfeld's participation. Few comedians have ever captured a pop culture moment better than his self-titled show did, and in its own way the movie tries to do the same thing by deconstructing our environmental and cultural concerns against a veneer of day-glo colors and simple romantic-comedy conventions. ... Written and produced by Seinfeld, this feelgood flick feels like a journey we've all been on before - but there's a whole lotta fun on the way. Breaking the first rule of Beedom by talking to a human, Barry finds himself falling for her - which causes no end of trouble back at the hive when his parents and best pal, Adam (Matthew Broderick), find out. ... Bee Movie begins as a leisurely, amiable riff on life in the hive, with some deft one-liners (for Seinfeld fans in the audience) and neat visual gags: but once it moves into the human world, it becomes awkwardly plot-driven, morphing into a courtroom drama (Judge Oprah presiding), with Barry crusading for the rights of bees to control the fruits of their labour. ... So while I am not willing to make the 180-degree flip and say that Bee Movie is a great film, I will say that it had me laughing the second time around, and it could do the same for you. It should have been a good movie, but it wasn't, at least not as far as I could tell. ... Full Review

Barry B. Benson This is comedian Jerry Seinfeld's first commercial project since winding up his epic sitcom about nothing. It's not the best of the talking animal cartoons to be released in recent years ( Ratatouille was better) but has enough laughs and sly sting to entertain, as well as an A-grade cast including Renee Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, John Goodman, Chris Rock, Rip Torn and, for Seinfeld fans, a great turn by Patrick Warburton, who played thick-as-three-bricks David Puddy in the TV series. ...
