I never really liked Anne, I thought that she would only be able to pull off "Princess Diary" roles, but she was very surprising. She was very adult and convincing, I wondered if Jane Austen was just the way she played... Full review

Anne tried really hard to become the British legendary novelist, Jane Austen. But she lacked the British tongue. Possibly the whole movie is a fiction build on a factual story. Never did Jane fall in love and she remained a spinster... Full review

So, while there is little that is fresh in this costume drama, it is well done and Anne Hathaway makes a delightful Jane, who is unafraid to defy convention.
The film certainly looks beautiful with its manicured gardens, gorgeous landscapes, authentic costumes and detailed production design.
