This film lacks soul because there is too much play with formula. What it does have is a village, Lagaan's cast (Akhilendra Mishra, Yashpal Sharma, Aditya Lakhia and Dayashanker Pandey are but shadows of their Lagaan characters in this film), a ripped off song situation ( Jeetenge Baazi Hum vs. Baar Baar Haan ), attempted humor, Amitabh Bachchan with a one-line narration, and the same aspirations (Lakhia has gone on record saying that his film deserves an Oscar! ...
