Just gotta love it

Only a complete curmudgeon could dislike this film. It's a brilliant slapstick parody of the spy/private eye genres with the Baadshah of Bollywood himself, Shahrukh Khan, hamming it up gloriously as a slightly dim-witted private detective who is innocently drawn into a conspiracy to assassinate the prime minister of India. The hilariously complex plot of mistaken identities and spy/counter spy is so twisted it took me several viewings to actually make it all out. (The fact that I was having to read subtitles didn't help) Surprisingly, the story holds together much better than it...more

The film is a pure entertainer. Raju (Shah Rukh Khan) is a small time private detective with big ambitions. He uses all kinds of techno-gimmicks to impress customers. He is employed by a rich girls (Twinkle Khanna) Seema’s father to persuade her to marry a boy of his choice in the course of which they fall in love. To complete his task Raju has to expose himself for a fraud. On an assignment to rescue a kidnapped child from Goa Raju’s identity gets mixed up with that of CBI officer Deepak Tijori who is codenamed Baadshah & on the same flight....more
