F ans of romantic comedies and road movies should love "Away We Go.....underscored with a melancholy soundtrack by Alexi Murdoch -....Though the co-stars are more noted for television work, Newton native John Krasinski ("The Office") and Maya Rudolph ("Saturday Night Live") are well cast.....They project a great chemistry as Burt and Verona, an unwed couple expecting their first child..... ... Away We Go itself is actually quite adept at depicting that exact emotion.....and-30-somethings, a certain portion of which, of course, hate nothing more than a movie trying to entertain them....Rudolph gives a particularly lovely, subtle performance, layering her fear, exasperation, and love.....There are some stereotypically indie distractions, like Alexi Murdoch's folky, same-sounding song score....Even more interesting, some of the best scenes between Rudolph and Krasinski were, per the commentary, adde ... To back up nice bits of acting is crisp dialogue, filled with offbeat humor that is generally more rewarding than blatant humor would be.....they certainly could have done away with the gratuitous "on the road to" shots that pepper the screen upon reaching each new destination.....Rather impressively, the entire film was shot in Connecticut....Maya Rudolph was great in Idiocracy....The special features, using a backdrop of soothing Yoga music, try extraordinarily hard, not to get people behind the film.... ... held together by clean, wonderful writing, Away We Go is a surprising treat for anyone who enjoys thoughtful, heartfelt filmmaking.....To the casual observer, one that has only seen his movies, Sam Mendes must hate the institution of marriage.....Wonderfully acted and beautifully shot, Away We Go is a delightful little film....Populated by an incredible supporting cast....while telling a beautiful, endearing love story at the same time..... ... it's a good film about good people.....Away We Go warm morality tale....In the end though, the film is a warm, old-fashioned morality tale about the importance of family and home;....like that silly scene in Tuscon between Verona and her sister in a bathtub, in which we learn.... ... Full Review

Away We Go is practically depraved.....it's well-made, interesting, cynical enough to undercut its moments of sentimentality, and kind of fun.....Away We Go is unconventional and cynical only as far as that looks cute;....Away We Go is slight, implausible and more fuddy-duddy than it wants to let on....Allison Janney delivering her excruciating lines with a jolting energy that makes everything that comes after seem slightly dreary..... ...
