However, the film was rather disappointing in the fact that not a whole lot interesting or exciting happened.

Auggie Rose is not brilliant filmmaking, and the moral message it espouses is elementary, indeed.
The film also has a terrific supporting cast, with scene-stealing bits from the abovementioned Santos and Olyphant, as well as from Richard T. Jones, as a concerned cop who shadows Nolan as he becomes more Auggie-like, and Paige Moss, as Nolan's concerned secretary back in the insurance office.
