I can't give this movie a perfect score, which I reserve for classic, Earth-shattering movies that may truly change one's ways of watching movies. But I give this a high nine, and as it stands, this is one of the... Full review

Thanks to the powerful performances of the movie's main three actors, Christopher Walken, Michael Caine and Josh Lucas, Around the Bend is a quirky drama that will make you laugh as it tugs at the heartstrings. Overall, the film's small problems do nothing to hurt the plot or your enjoyment of the movie. ... Full Review

I'll be the first to admit that I'd watch pretty much anything Walken does, but his performance in Around the Bend is the kind of acting that makes you remember just why he's such a great actor. What comes across as a quirky comedy in the opening minutes soon segues into an endearing road movie about what it's like to have a little bit of someone else inside of you (and inside of your family), even though you may barely know them. ... Heartwarming, if predictable, Around the Bend represents the softer side of its three leads and Walken is particularly effective in an uncharacteristic role (i.e. There's eccentric patriarch Henry (Michael Caine), prodigal son Turner (Christopher Walken), bitter grandson Jason (Josh Lucas), and great-grandson Zach (Jonah Bobo). ... Around the Bend is thankfully free of histrionic speeches and tearful outbursts, but instead takes a subtler approach. Unfortunately, the characters reconcile their differences too easily and predictably. ... Full Review
