It performed extraordinarily well for an R-rated movie, due in part to Lowe's participation and in part because of strong word-of-mouth.....Elizabeth Perkins, making her debut, is the weakest of the principals....In 1986, Lowe was at the peak of his popularity and his being cast in the film virtually assured....The emotional honesty at the film's core demands....Glory would never have been as powerful had the director not cut his teeth here..... ... Time after time, there are shocks of recognition, as the movie shows how well it understands what's going on.
After all, writing good dialogue takes some intelligence.
Lowe's best friend is his partner at work, played by James Belushi .
