I loved it. It was wacky, but deep. Even if you are not Jewish, it resonates with 60's stuff and mid-life angst. Many chuckles; several LOL spots.... Full review

What was this supposed to be about? Abuse and angst with no resolution? Only wish I could get my money back.... Full review

Overall a good movie with some good black comedy to keep you entertained in moments throughout. You definitely have to be a bit of a Coen brothers fan to really enjoy this one. I would definitely recommend it with the only... Full review

This "comedy" did not evoke any laughter, a giggle, or even a subtle smile from my face. This movie lacked humor completely. I felt bad for suggesting my girlfriend and I spend our Sat night watching this movie. It was agonizing.... Full review

A "serious" thoughtful, complex drama of near-Shakesperean quality and construction. Leaves you exiting the theatre with lots of food for thought and material for a multi-topic discussion/analysis. Brilliant!! A real contrast from the revenue-oriented sensationalist 'slop' usually fed to the vast majority... Full review

Really funny and rather tragic. A Serious Man is one of the best movies I've seen this year! Definitely among my favorite Coen Brothers' movies. If you allow yourself to get emotionally invested in the chaotic suburban journey of the protagonist,... Full review

The opening is soberb, one would expect the Coen brothers would tell a great story, but noooo... It's bad, drags for a long time to end abruptly (you will want to kill yourself). You either run from the theater or sit... Full review

A brilliant hilarious look at the relationship between G-d and ordinary people with ordinary troubles. A remarkable well-made, wonderfully acted movie. Although it is set in a Jewish community in the Midwest it is easy to understand the questions it raises.... Full review

Yet what follows is no headache, but a superb and intelligent comedy.....an unsettling folk tale drenched in mortality and fear.....when their creations are pitched at just the right distance between each, the resulting film is a marvel.....Joel and Ethan Coen have bookended the decade with a superb film at the very beginning, The Man Who Wasn't There (2001), and another two stormers at the end:....The Coen brothers' authorial identity as film-makers has always marked out an intriguing spectrum between broa ... It's a well-made film, but many audiences will find it hard to engage with.....others will find it dull.....There's also a wonderful Jefferson Airplane-loaded soundtrack.....Stuhlbarg is quietly effective in the role and the terrific, non-starry, supporting cast members often amuse..... ... the movie is funny, definitely funny.....The Coens have fun with the art direction, with ugly faux modern painting and big-eyed Keane reproductions on the walls of Larry's house..... ... Full Review

that's a reductive reading of this clever, shatteringly funny movie, which often recalls Barton Fink without all the distancing stylistic flourishes....A Serious Man is profoundly personal in its details.... ... Full Review
