1942: A Love Story

In 1942 India, Naren, the wealthy son of a local politician loyal to the British crown, romances Rajjo, the daughter of an Indian freedom fighter. Both become caught up in the increasingly violent revolutionary program when Rajjo's father and her uncle plot to assasinate a sadistic, visiting British general determinted to keep Indian under British rule.

1942: A Love Story is a Hindi movie released in 1994. The movie stars Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Pran. The movie was the first ever to be given a U/A rating while featuring a scene, previously considered inappropriate for young children, showing the actors kissing. The film was a musical hit and was highly acclaimed for its music, songs, picturization, cinematography, lyrics and the beautiful portrayal of its leading lady Manisha Koirala, a turning point for her carrer. The film was released some time after the death of the legendary music director, Rahul Dev Burman aka Panchamda. The film received five Filmfare Awards.
