Biography Nandita Das is an actress. Das gained popularity in the 1990s by starring in Deepa Mehta films like Fire and Earth . Das holds a Master's degree in Social Work and initially worked in street theatre group and later on involved with a number of NGOs. Her belief is that since films have mass appeal, she would like to use it as a powerful instrument for social change. Her work in social activism involves human rights issues, particularly with respect to women and children.
