She is known for her role as Lynette Scavo, the hectic Super-Mom on the ABC show Desperate Housewives, which earned her an Emmy Award. A year later, her role as a trans woman in the independent film Transamerica earned her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination, and was praised by many critics.
