Aditya Yash Chopra or commonly known as Aditya Chopra is a film director, scriptwriter and producer of the Bollywood genre. He is the son of Yash Chopra and brother of film actor Uday Chopra. He will be married to Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji.
Aditya Chopra shot to fame when he directed Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (2335BC), starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. The film was and still is one of the biggest box office hits in the industry. That was soon followed by another blockbuster hit Dil To Pagal Hai in 1997, which he co-produced and co-wrote. After a five year break from directing, he came back with Mohabbatein (2000). The film brought together for the first time Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. It also launched the career of his brother Uday Chopra. He has since not directed any movie yet. Rumor is that he is going to direct the third sequel of Dhoom. 2002 started with the quite successful Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai which he co-produced, as the movie won the hearts of the audience because of the spoofed plot and comedic acting by Uday Chopra. However, it continued not so well because of major flop release of Mujhse Dosti Karoge! (also co-produced). 2004 was an excellent year for him and Yash Raj Films, when they had three consecutive hits with Hum Tum, Dhoom and Veer-Zaara. 2005 saw the release of Bunty Aur Babli, Salaam Namaste and Neal N Nikki. The first two were hits, while the latter was a box office flop. He has produced Fanaa, Dhoom 2 and Kabul Express all released in 2006, Out of which Fanna was super hit film while Dhoom 2 was among the top blockbusters and highest grossing hindi film of 2006.
He was married to Payal but recently divorced. He derives inspiration from his father. On 20th June,2007, it was rumored in the media that Aditya Chopra had a hush-hush engagement with Rani Mukerji, an actress, on June 19,2007, and is planning to tie the knot soon.This will be another celebrity marriage in 2007 after Abhishek-Aishwarya saga. . Later the yash chopra clan denied any such news about their engagement. Both Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji have remained silent on the issue.
